As the organizing committee, we are delighted to invite you to Istanbul to participate in the “İstanbul Clean Coal Forum” that will be held between 27-28 March 2015.
Turkey’s energy consumption has been growing much faster than its production, increasing the country’s dependence on energy imports. Energy demand has doubled from 60.3 MToe in 1993 to 120.9 MToe in 2014 over the last two decades, and this trend is forecasted to continue in the future with an average rate of increase of 4% per year.
Turkey has large reserves of lignite, hard coal, and asphaltite, which are currently used in mostly conversion and utility sector. However, burning coal produces almost 14 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year in Turkey and most of it from power generation.
Development of new CCT-Clean Coal Technologies addresses this problem so that the world’s enormous coal resources can be utilized for future generations in environment-friendly manner without contributing to global climate change.
“İstanbul Clean Coal Forum” will be a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, scientific information, experiences, new technologies and innovations on such technologies among the participants, including industry leaders, researchers, company representatives, and governmental representatives. A number of keynote and invited speakers from various countries as well as technical sessions will make the Forum an unforgettable event.
We are looking forward to welcoming participants from all over the world to Istanbul to witness this important event and feel the fascinating atmosphere of Istanbul where East meets West.
Let’s meet in İstanbul in 2015.
